How to spot fake David Yurman jewelry

Fortunately, when you buy anything from Ebay there is a basic "best practise" guide to help you determine the credibility of a seller and anything they happen to be selling.

1/ If the seller is using photos of David Yurman jewelry taken from the internet i.e. not photos of the actual item the seller is advertising then beware as these will often be fakes. If the seller can't be bothered to take a photo of their own item then they're usually hiding something.

2/ It may seem obvious but the advertised price can tell you a lot ! If it's being sold for a fraction of it's retail price then if it's too good to be true then it probably ain't true !

3/ Feedback. Ebay's feedback system is invaluable in weeding our rogue traders. Some sellers opt for "private feedback" if they do then steer clear. Other sellers may have have dubious feedback comments in the past-again steer clear. Also be on the lookout for sellers who may have had a decent feedback in the past but then all Ebay activity drops off for a long period of time. Although this doesn't necessarily mean the seller may be selling fakes it should be however be flagged as a warning sign and taken into consideration.

4/ A few sellers try to hide their fake David Yurman jewelry behind descriptions such as "David Yurman design" or "authentic looking David Yurman" or even "David Yurman style". Either it is or it isn't, I hope you get the drift.

5/ A genuine David Yurman silver or gold piece will be hallmarked. Look out for these signs.

6/ If you're buying a piece of David Yurman jewelry that had previously been owned by someone else then ask them for a certificate of authenticity. If they had bought the piece at a David Yurman store they would have been provided with just such a certificate.

There are bargains to be had and I don't want to scaremonger. I just want you to buy what you think you're buying-namely a genuine piece of David Yurman jewelry.

Many genuine pieces of David Yurman jewelry are sold on Ebay regularly as people try to raise funds for personal reasons or perhaps they received the jewelry as an unwanted gift.

Enjoy your shopping experience and if you're in any doubt then don't buy.
